Since 1997, provided visionary leadership, strategic planning, and operational guidance as founder and executive direction of the specialized clinics/L’institute, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Since 2004 as a founder of Moawad Skin Institute (MSI), Cairo-Egypt, demonstrated stature as a physician and competency as a leader. SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • First dermatologist in the Middle East to use pulsed dye lasers to treat both vascular and pigmented skin lesions; successfully treating thousands of patients since
  • Established the first laser unit at the Security Forces Hospital (Riyadh), Saudi Arabia, changing the fate for many patients and bringing national recognition from colleagues and
  • Designed and implemented programs for immediate improvement and alternative services in line with department goals and results for dermatology services at the Security Forces Hospital,
  • Identified restructuring opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness while implementing policy and controls to ensure compliance for excellence in quality and outstanding patient
  • Pioneered the development and foundation for L’institute, one of the first private centers in Riyadh for dermatology, laser and cosmetic
  • Provided the strategic vision, a high visibility market recognition campaign, and operational guidance for the business development and long-term positioning of the Specialized Clinics in the market.
  • Created and developed a line of physician-formulated skincare products, under the trademark M-Care and Dr. Derm, sold exclusively through dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

Security Forces Hospital is an ultra-modern 508-bed referral hospital under the management of the American Medical International (AMI) company. Eligibility is limited to military personnel of the Ministry of Interior and their dependents. The Dermatology Department is equipped with the highest international standard encountering a full range of skin problems referred from all primary care facilities nationwide. A premium standard of care is made possible with the aid of excellent laboratory and ancillary services. The obligatory Quality Assurance Program makes it a more exciting and challenging position.

Administrative responsibilities

Administer affairs of the dermatology department and maintain effective inter-service relations. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Coordinate and schedule activities for staff members (medical and technical), interview prospective candidates for resident, registrar, and consultant positions. Counsel subordinates in professional, educational, and personal matters. Update library material, pharmaceuticals and required equipment.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of excellence in providing dermatological services for average (2000) patients a month both as outpatients and inpatients. Advise other medical specialties on dermatological problems throughout the hospital including emergencies. Provide direction and assistance to The High Medical Military Committee and respond to medical (fitness) reports.
  • Introduced cosmetic dermatologic Surgery as a distinctive service.
  • Established a successful first Laser Surgery Unit.

  • Laser Surgery: (Yellow and Green pulsed dye laser; Q-switched ruby and CO2)
  • Chemical Peels: (light and Medium depth).
  • Dermabrasion (open, closed as well as manual derma-sanding)

  • Micro-liposuction and micro-lipo-infiltration
  • Lipocytic-dermal augmentation.
  • Performing classical dermato-surgical techniques (cryosurgery, excisional surgery, etc.).

  • Training and supervising residents and registrars.
  • Developing and supervising educational programs using audiovisual aids. An active participant in postgraduate teaching and training activities; grand rounds, tutorials, bedside teaching, pathology conferences, residents’ seminars, and lectures.

Direct, supervise and grade postgraduate student’s theses in dermatology, Venereology, and andrology (e.g. Plasma Pheresis in Dermatology, Malignant Histiocytosis, Connective Tissue Changes in Photo-dermatoses and Vasculogenic impotence)

Teaching Assignment

Conduct departmental courses for undergraduate or graduate students: Teach dermatology, venereology, and andrology within prescribed curriculum. Prepare and deliver lectures to students. Compile administer and grade examinations.

Clinical Responsibilities

Diagnose, investigate, and treat diseases of human skin, venereal, and infertility, especially rare or difficult cases using the utmost capabilities of institutional resources (histopathology, electron microscopy, immunological techniques, etc.). Collaborate in referrals of patients to appropriate facilities for further management. Perform surgery to investigate and prevent diseases, to correct deformities, and improve function in dermatologic and andrological patients. Employ established surgical techniques appropriate for specific procedures [e.g. skin biopsies, hair restoration and scalp reduction, testicular biopsies, and varicocelectomy.
