Buttocks augmentation can be performed through various surgical techniques, but there are substantial advantages to gluteal fat transfer compared with other methods. A Brazilian Buttocks lift is a specialized fat transfer procedure that augments the size and shape of the buttocks without implants. Excess fat is removed from the hips, abdomen, lower back, or thighs with liposuction, and a portion of this fat is then strategically injected into the buttocks. A skilled cosmetic surgeon can improve the proportions of the entire lower body with Brazilian Buttocks lift surgery, helping a patient lose fat in common “problem areas” and enhance the buttocks, with results lasting many years. Autologous fat grafting is associated with the lowest rate of complications. It is ideal for correcting finite asymmetries and volume deficiencies.

Moreover, I can combine it with liposuction of the waist, lower back, and lateral thigh. Prof Moawad calls it “horseshoe liposuction” to create the universal perfect proportions of the female torso and meet the specific ethnic ideals of beautiful buttocks in one operation. Principles of buttocks augmentation with autologous fat transfer have evolved from solely buttock augmentation to global, whole-body, 360° contouring and shaping, thereby producing an optimal, highly defined body/ buttocks balance, without implant-related complications.

Why Should I have My Fat for  Brazilian Butt Lift?

Autologous fat grafting is associated with the lowest rate of complications and presents the specific advantage of allowing reshaping the lateral third of the buttocks. It is ideal for correcting finite asymmetries and volume deficiencies. Moreover, it can be combined with liposuction of the waist and lower back to create the universal perfect proportions of the female torso and meet the specific ethnic ideals of beautiful buttocks in one operation. Thus, to this end, Prof Moawad endorses using autologous fat grafting to augment not only the medial two-thirds of the buttocks but the lateral buttocks and the lateral thighs. His technique of combining liposuction of lumbosacral, sub-gluteal, and trochanteric areas with lipo injection in the upper-middle buttock to improve the gluteal contour together with projections of the gluteus

The shape and proportion of a person’s buttocks are determined mainly by genetics; both your skeletal structure and how your body stores fat influence the appearance of the lower body. A healthy diet and exercise can achieve healthy body weight and tone the muscles, but many patients remain unhappy with a “flat” buttock that lacks shape, despite a healthy lifestyle. Brazilian Buttocks lift surgery can help overcome the effects of genetics by reshaping the buttocks and surrounding areas, such as the hips, lower back, and thighs. You might consider a Brazilian Buttocks lift to:

  • Enhance the curves of your lower body
  • Reduce fat pockets on your hips, thighs, or belly while adding fullness to the buttocks
  • Help clothing fit more attractively.
  • Give a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing shape to flat buttocks
  • Enhance your overall proportions by improving the balance between your upper and lower body

Who is a Good Candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift?

This procedure is an ideal option for anyone looking to raise or improve the contours of their buttocks. People who desire to supercharge their self-confidence and feel attractive, regardless of their clothes (or wearing none), can enjoy the benefits that a Brazilian Buttocks Lift offers. Women considering a Buttocks lift should have realistic expectations about the outcomes, as they should with any surgical procedure. They should enjoy good health overall and have a healthy, comfortable weight.

Patients at or near their ideal weight will achieve the best outcomes, and following their body contouring surgery, they will have an easier time keeping their weight steady. The amount of fat required for each buttock is an average of about 250 to 350 cubic centimeters (cc) of pure fat. Hence, that equals about 700 cc for both sides, about ½ to about ¾ of a pound of fat. Therefore, if you can spare the fat, then the fat transfer is the best option.

How do you know if you are a candidate for Buttocks augmentation through fat transfer? Usually, if a patient is overweight or wears an eight to 12 dress size, she is probably best suited for fat removal and perhaps some liposuction. Thin patients who wear size two to four dresses or are severely under your ideal weight are usually not good candidates for fat transfer because they do not have any fat to spare. As mentioned before, very thin or patients may not be ideal candidates for the fat graft augmentation of the breasts or buttocks. It is common for those with minimal recipient site fatty tissues to transfer lower volumes (such as 150 mL or less to each side) and plan on a secondary transfer in 4–6 months. In general, you are likely the right candidate for a Brazilian Buttocks lift if you agree with the following:

  • Do you want a buttock augmentation without implants
  • You have the right skin tone in the hips and buttocks
  • You have adequate fat stores in other areas to harvest for injection into the buttocks
  • You are willing and able to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for several weeks

Who Is Not a Candidate Buttocks for Brazilian Butt Lift?

  • A person who does not have excess fat that can be harvested
  • A person whose health is compromised

What are the Differences Between the Brazilian Butt Lift and Buttocks Implant?

Buttocks implants are silicone devices that are surgically placed into the buttocks to achieve the patient’s desired shape. In contrast, a buttock lift uses injections of the patient’s body fat to make their desired shape. It is much easier to achieve a more natural look and feel using natural fat than artificial implants. Using the patient’s fat cells to enhance their buttocks decreases the likelihood of infection and shorter or quicker recovery. Silicone implants in the Buttocks have the same complications as silicone implants in the breast. Artificial buttock prostheses make patients incapacitated for 15–30 days after surgery. Mainly this is caused by extreme pain and the fact that the patient cannot lie down on the gluteus area. Also, patients receiving an artificial buttock implant are forbidden to receive intramuscular injections.

Silicone implants raised the potential problem of having an accident that might leave the patient unconscious while someone else applied an intramuscular injection. Furthermore, the collision might rupture the prostheses, requiring a repeat of the cosmetic surgery. Also, gluteal prostheses cause minor irregularities that are easy to view through the skin, and many patients are unable to wear a swimsuit naturally. Brazilian Buttocks Lift allows the patient to lie prone after only four days and be ambulatory as early as the same day of surgery.

Your consultation for Brazilian Butt Lift?

During the consultation, you will be asked about what you would like your buttocks to look like and other body image concerns to help Prof. Moawad understand and address your expectations and whether I can realistically achieve them. Prof. Moawad will examine your buttocks and most likely take photographs for your medical record. He will consider such factors as the size and shape of your buttocks, the quality of your skin, and what kind of augmentation is appropriate. Besides, he will determine what sites on your body are relevant fat donor sites.  It would be best if you came to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history, such as; any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries, and medications (including over-the-counter MEDs) that you take. You need to provide complete information. If you are planning to lose a significant amount of weight, be sure to tell Prof. Moawad. He may recommend that you stabilize your weight before undergoing surgery.

What are the Steps of Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian Buttocks lift involves three necessary steps:

  1. Fat is removed from the hips, lower back, thighs, abdomen, and other areas with liposuction
  2. The extracted fat is purified and prepared for transfer
  3. The cosmetic surgeon injects the fat into specific points on the buttocks to increase volume and improve the shape

First Liposuction from Donor Sites

Using the syringe technique, fat can be taken from numerous other areas, including the abdomen, back, hips, waist, thighs, knees, and arms. The fat is deposited in a sterile container until an acceptable amount of fat is obtained (approximately 300 ml for each buttock). Harvesting the excess fat from the sides, above, below, and around the buttocks enhances the curves and projections before the micro fat transfer and makes for the shapelier derriere. The liposuction machine further sculpts the area around the buttock is further sculpted by liposuction machine to reshape the iliac crests and waist.

Secondly Fat Injections

The fat is transferred to 60-mL syringes and processed to remove blood, anesthesia, and oil. The fat is injected through the prior incisions for fat retrieval into the buttocks in a fan-like fashion depositing small amounts of the fat into multiple tunnels subcutaneously over any areas that need filling. While injecting, we mold the fat to obtain regular accommodation with finger and hand pressure. This process is repeated until all the fat has been used to achieve the buttocks’ balanced, natural, smooth appearance. The procedure is designed to fill the upper quadrant of your buttocks so that the butt appears lifted and perky. We strive for the 3–3.5 cm posterior projection that I can achieve with the Brazilian silicone prostheses for the gluteus. The procedure usually takes about one and a half to two hours and is performed under IV sedation.

How Long  Does it Take to Recover after Brazilian Butt Lift?

Swelling and bruising will diminish in the weeks following the surgery. Patients need to wear a compression garment beneath their regular clothes for a short time during their recovery. Prof Moawad will instruct you to be mindful of how you are sitting in the weeks after your Buttocks augmentation procedure; however, each patient’s guideline is different, and your personalized post-operative instructions are reviewed with you during your pre-op visits.

Autologous fat will only survive if a certain amount of new circulation develops into it and, after 3–4 days, if the fat has not obtained its blood supply, it is re-absorbed by the body as dead tissue, while fat cells that have been supplied with new blood supply are going to survive. The recovery time for a Brazilian Buttocks Lift varies from patient to patient, but it is not uncommon for patients whose jobs are not highly active to return to work within seven days.

Many patients resume moderate to complete activity levels within three to four weeks, though the recovery time may be longer for individual patients. One note: just after the procedure, the buttocks will swell somewhat and then subside. Thus, most patients think all the transferred fat has gone away, but the swelling went down. That is why it requires three months before we can get a final resolution on how much fat remains.

How do I look Like After Brazilian Butt Lift?

Almost all rear ends look better with some added volume. Even after doing hundreds of fat transfers, I am amazed at how beautiful the gluteus looks when more amount is added. And remember, it is not always a matter of how much fat is contained in one area, but where the fat is located decides the shape of the buttocks. The effect is a more attractive and exciting appearance overall.

How Long Does the Brazilian Butt Lift Last?

The surgeon’s experience has a great deal to do with the results you achieve from a Brazilian Buttocks Lift. The results of your injections should be long-lasting if the fat is obtained, prepared, and placed correctly, and you should not need to have any fine-tuning or additional fat injections. Surgeons who fail to use proper methods of fat purification or injection cannot deliver long-lasting results. Most Brazilian Buttocks lift patients enjoy the results of their surgery for as many as 20 years afterward. While it is natural for some of the injected fat to be re-absorbed, the rest remains in the buttocks, preserving the aesthetic enhancement. Anyone’s body will change shape as the year passes, a natural part of the aging process.

Brazilian Buttocks Lift patients can help prolong the results of their procedures by sustaining a healthy body weight. Over the years, sharp increases or decreases in pressure can change the contours and the smoothness of the backside. Buttocks lift patients who do not smoke usually-absorb less of the fat injected during fat grafting than do those who use tobacco.

Life after  Brazilian Butt Lift?

Brazilian Buttocks lift results are meant to last for many years. Fat cells removed with liposuction will not return to the area, and fat cells that survive the transfer to the buttocks will remain for years to come. However, significant weight fluctuations can affect your results, so maintain a stable weight to keep your results looking their best. The results are typically final within six months of surgery after you are fully healed after residual swelling has gone away. By this time, your curvier buttocks and improved lower body proportions will be noticeable in how you look and in the way clothing fits. A Brazilian Buttocks lift is a rewarding procedure with long-lasting results.

New Trends in Fat Grafting

In our experience, one of the most important influences of grafting adult lipocytes plus the stimulation of the vibrant mesenchymal stem cells found within adipose tissues is the addition of platelet-derived factors added to the harvested graft materials before graft placement. The PRP is added to the autologous graft materials in an approximate ratio of 10% in small volume cases and 0.5–1% of the total graft prepared for large volume transplantation. PRP enhances the survival and quality of fat grafts. Although several mechanisms may be responsible for this result, the most important mediator of the survival of fat grafts is the induction of angiogenesis. PRP contains mitogenic and chemotactic growth factors important in angiogenesis, including VEGF and EGF. These factors promoted angiogenesis during the growth of the fat. A second potential mechanism by which PRP enhances fat graft survival is a more significant proliferation of adipose stromal cells (ASCs) or stimulation of ASCs to differentiate into adipocytes. The PRP treatment increases graft weight and volume and improves graft quality in small and large volume applications.

The concept of regenerative medicine, using the body’s stem cells and growth factors to repair tissue, is an alternative therapeutic strategy for damaged tissue repair. Adipose adult stem cells (ASCs) have been used as a cell source for adipose tissue engineering because I could readily differentiate them into adipocytes with specific induction factors. It has been suggested that the pre-adipocytes and adipose stromal cells are the cells that are the most likely components of surviving grafts. These cells are more resistant to trauma and have lower metabolic requirements compared to mature adipocytes.

Adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) can be commonly obtained from adipose aspirates after conventional liposuction. Cell-assisted fat transfer ASC-poor fat is converted to ASC-rich fat by supplementing with cells freshly isolated from the adipose tissue during the preparation of the injected material. The procedure of ASC-enriched fat grafting had excellent feasibility and safety. Results indicate that ASC graft enrichment could render lipofilling a reliable alternative to considerable tissue augmentation, such as breast surgery, with allogeneic material or significant flap surgery. Furthermore, ADSCs and their secretory factors promise application in cosmetic dermatology, especially in skin aging.
